Type A or type B RCD at your charging station?Charging stations & installation · Extensive article
Easee Charge Max and Charge Pro have built-in type A protection of 30 mA AC and DC fault current detection of 6 mA. With multiple chargers behind the same upstream differential, small DC fault currents can accumulate together. We then provide suitable type B protection, unless another protection structure substantiated by the manufacturer has been checked. The right choice depends on the entire electrical installation and the layout of the circuits.

We often recommend Charge Max for home charging, both privately and with reimbursement from your employer. Charge Pro offers greater scalability for larger or shared charging locations. In the simulator you can choose Max or Pro. Both have a certified MID meter and are standard V2G-ready: the hardware is prepared for bidirectional charging. We test your choice based on your grid connection, the number of charging points and the desired management.

How quickly you charge at home depends on your car and your electrical installation. The car, connection, protection, cable or settings can limit the speed. Especially on 3 × 230 V without neutral conductor, the charging speed varies greatly per model.
Extensive articleFind your car in the charging speed guideBack to searchIs a charging station worth it if I can also charge via a regular socket?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Charging via a regular socket can be done as a temporary or occasional solution, with a suitable mobile Mode 2 charging cable with protection unit, an earthed socket and an electrical installation in good condition. For daily charging, a fixed charging station is almost always the better choice: it is designed for long-term high power, charges faster and can use the available power more intelligently.
An ordinary socket is not automatically unsafe. The risk mainly lies in hours of high load on an old, damaged, loose or shared socket. Only use the car's original Mode 2 charging cable, never an extension cable, power strip or cable reel, and stop immediately if there is heat, discoloration, odor or damage.
If you drive infrequently and only charge exceptionally, socket charging may suffice after the installation has been checked. If you charge several times a week, want to charge faster or want to use solar panels and dynamic rates, a fixed charging station will pay for itself mainly in terms of safety, ease of use and energy management. A charging station does not in itself make electricity cheaper; the advantage arises because you can control the charging better.
- Safer for everyday use — we connect the charging station to a separate, properly protected circuit and match the cable, circuit breaker and differential protection to the installation. The charging station communicates with the car before charging current is released.
- Faster — when charging via a household socket, the charging current is limited to 10 A, or approximately 2,3 kW. Depending on the vehicle and connection, a fixed charging station can supply approximately 3,7 to 22 kW.
- Protects your main connection — with automatic power control via an Equalizer, the charging station reduces or increases power when other devices in the house require power.
- Uses solar energy smarter — the charging station can charge your car on available solar surplus. A normal socket does not know how much your home is consuming or injecting at that moment.
- More control — you see sessions and usage in the app and can manage access, schedules, charging current and possible reimbursement.
- More ease of use — you connect the car and the installation takes care of the rest, without having to burden a mobile charging cable and socket for a long time.
We look at your car, driving profile, main connection, solar panels and future plans and place the charging station on a separately secured circuit. If you want to charge via an existing socket for the time being, we will first check whether it is suitable for long-term use.
Back to searchI live in a terraced house without a driveway. Can my charging cable lie on the sidewalk?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Not just like that. The footpath is public domain and the rules differ per city or municipality. A cable mat or self-constructed cable duct does not automatically make a charging cable for private use permitted; In many large cities this solution is also expressly prohibited.
Never place a loose cable, mat or gutter on the footpath on your own initiative and never break open the public domain yourself. In addition to a possible fine, accessibility, tripping hazards and liability may play a role.
Private charging on the street is not allowed, then view public or semi-public charging points and ask your city or municipality which request channel is available for an additional public charging point. These channels and conditions change regularly.
- Bruges — conditionally allowed at your own risk, with a solid heavy cable mat. The public parking lot must be directly adjacent to the footpath near the house, the distance from the plot boundary to the car may not exceed 10 meters and the cable may never run across the road. Cable and mat must be removed immediately after charging; you cannot claim the parking space for yourself.
- Ghent — private charging on public domain is prohibited. This applies to a cable on or above the footpath and to a cable duct in the footpath.
- Antwerp — a charging cable over the pedestrian or cycle path is prohibited. A cable duct or floating charging arm is also not permitted.
- Mechelen — a charging cable over the footpath is prohibited, even with a cable mat or cable duct.
- Leuven — a cable over the sidewalk or another part of the public road is prohibited. The city also excludes a cable mat, cable duct, cable trench and cable tile.
- Hasselt — no charging cable, cable duct or cable porch over the footpath. An older test with cable tray tiles is therefore not general approval.
- Brussels Capital Region — a charging cable for private use on public domain is prohibited, even with a cable mat, cable duct or similar construction.
- Kortrijk — a cable over the sidewalk or public road is prohibited, even with a mat, gutter, slot or cable tile.
- Aalst — a cable over the footpath is prohibited. A mat, cable duct, recess or bridge above the footpath is also not permitted.
- Ostend — the city currently does not publish a specific exception for home charging on the sidewalk. Anyone who wants to use the public domain privately or carry out works there must obtain prior permission. Therefore, first ask for written confirmation.
- Sint-Niklaas — a loose cable, mat, bridge, charging arm or own gutter is prohibited. After an approved application, the city can install a cable duct itself in certain situations. The applicant pays for the construction and the public parking lot remains available to everyone.
This overview was checked on 30 August 2026, but local rules may change and the specific street layout may also be decisive. Always contact your municipal or city council before installation and preferably request permission in writing. We advise you on the technical charging solution; the local government decides what is allowed on the public domain.
Back to searchCan every home have a charging station?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Many homes in Flanders and Brussels are suitable for a charging station. We check in advance how we can carry out the installation safely and neatly, so that you know before the work starts which solution suits your home and connection.
- We look at the electrical installation, the available capacity, the meter and fuse box and the ideal location for the charger.
- Preparation can be done using clear photos, during a video call or via a free site visit if the situation requires more explanation or measurement.
- We also check the cable route and whether automatic power control with an Equalizer is appropriate.
- In exceptional situations, adjustments to the meter or fuse box, connection or earthing are first necessary.
If additional work is required, we always discuss this transparently in advance. We will only start the installation after the approach and any additional costs are clear.
Back to searchDoes Laadnatie work in Flanders and Brussels?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Yes. We install charging stations and energy solutions throughout Flanders and Brussels and are also looking at suitable projects in Wallonia.
For projects in Wallonia, we prepare the installation remotely, via a video call or by assessing clear photos of the meter and fuse box, the cable route and the desired location of the charger.
Send us your address and some photos or give us a call. We confirm whether the installation can be scheduled within our working area and with remote preparation.
Back to searchDo you work with your own staff?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Yes. We prepare the work, install the charging station and follow up with you afterwards. If the inspection is included in your quotation, we will request it from an independent inspection body. For any other specialized work, we clearly agree in advance who will do what.
You have direct contact with the people who prepare your situation, make the technical choices, install the charging station and explain how it works afterwards. This means we know exactly what has been installed in your home and we can provide you with targeted assistance later.
A permanent team from the first technical consultation to installation and follow-up afterwards, with transparent agreements about any external specialists.
Back to searchDoes a charging station increase the value of my home?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
A professionally installed charging station can make your home more attractive to electric buyers. They can charge immediately at home and do not have to have an installation carried out themselves. However, the financial return varies per home and per buyer.
When you sell, you transfer the complete electrical file to the buyer. The inspection report of the charging installation is part of this; it is not a separate certificate that automatically proves that the entire home installation is compliant. The digital access and ownership in the Easee app will also not move automatically. Contact us. We then invite the new resident as owner.
- There is currently no reliable Belgian research that proves a fixed added value of € 1.000 to € 2.000 for a charging station at a private home. That's why we don't promise an exact amount.
- A private parking space with a working charging option can be a practical selling point for a buyer with an electric car.
- The condition and age of the charger, the available capacity, smart functions and the quality of the entire installation determine how much practical added value the charging station offers.
- After installation, the charging installation must be inspected. Keep the inspection report, updated electrical diagrams and technical documentation with the home's electrical file.
An approved, well-documented and ready-to-use charging installation removes uncertainty from a buyer. That is a more credible asset than an unsubstantiated fixed amount of home value.
Back to searchHow long does it take to install a charging station?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
A standard installation is usually completed in a few hours. The precise duration depends mainly on the distance to the fuse box, the cable route and the adjustments required in or around the box.
These are practical guide times for a prepared, easily accessible installation. Additional cabinet work, difficult drilling, excavation work, a mounting pole, multiple charging points or unexpected circumstances can extend the execution. We discuss the expected approach in advance based on your simulation, photos and a possible site visit.
- Charging station next to the fuse box — average about 2 hours.
- Cable route up to 5 meters — approximately 2,5 hours on average.
- Cable route up to 10 meters — average 3 to 4 hours.
- More than 10 meters — depending on the route, the subsurface and the necessary penetrations or excavation work.
After installation, we test the entire installation, set everything up and take the time for delivery. So we only leave when the charging station works correctly and you know how to use it.
Back to searchWill I receive a detailed explanation after installation?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Yes. After installation, we will explain the Easee app and the functions of your charger step by step. We go over everything on your device and tailor the explanation to the functions that are active in your installation.
- Find your account, charging location and charger in the Easee app.
- Start, stop a charging session and recognize the current status.
- Use the light strip, cable lock and any Easee Keys or RFID access.
- Understand charging current, schedules, load balancing and solar charging, insofar as those functions are set up in your installation.
- Consult charging sessions and consumption reports.
Even after delivery, we remain your first point of contact for questions about the app and the operation of your charger.
Back to searchWhich Type 2 charging cable do I need?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
With a Type 2 cable, the number of phases and the maximum current determine how much power the cable can transmit. The cable cannot make your car charge faster or increase the power of your connection, but a cable that is too light can limit the charging speed.
- Single-phase 32 A — maximum approximately 7,4 kW. On a connection with, for example, a main fuse of 3 × 20 A, the charging current on the one phase used is limited to what the connection and automatic power control safely allow.
- Three-phase 16 A, often sold as 11 kW cable — maximum approximately 11 kW on a suitable three-phase 400 V network, but on a single-phase installation only approximately 3,7 kW. This is often the cable that comes standard with a car.
- Three-phase 20 A — theoretically around 13,8 kW at 400 V and around 4,6 kW on a single-phase installation, provided both the car and charging point allow 20 A. Always check the rating plate rather than relying only on the ‘11 kW’ description.
- Three-phase 32 A, sold as 22 kW cable — the most universal choice. It can also be used safely on a single-phase or lower fused network; vehicle, charging point and installation automatically limit the current.
For everyday use, we usually recommend a three-phase 32 A cable if its weight, price and handling are acceptable. Almost all recent cars for the European market use Type 2 for AC charging, including plug-in hybrids. For an older or imported car with Type 1, we choose a suitable Type 2-to-Type 1 cable rather than a separate adapter. During installation, we check what suits your car, charging point and main connection.
Back to searchCan I charge different electric cars and plug-in hybrids?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Yes. The Easee charger that we install has a Type 2 connection and can charge both fully electric cars and plug-in hybrids. You do not have to connect the charger to one car model.
- Almost all recent cars delivered to the European market use Type 2 for AC charging. This also applies to recent plug-in hybrids.
- An older or imported car may still have a Type 1 connection. It can also charge at an Easee with a suitable Type 2-to-Type 1 cable; do not use a separate adapter.
- Each car determines how many phases and what maximum AC power it accepts. Compatible does not mean that every car automatically achieves 11 or 22 kW.
- The lowest limit of the vehicle, cable, connection and set power control determines the actual charging speed.
Are you unsure about a current or future car? Then note the make, model, year of manufacture and type of connection. This allows us to check the suitable cable and charging speed.
Back to searchCan my car charge in three phases and how do I set that up?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
Three-phase charging is only possible if both the on-board charger of your car and your mains connection support it. Leave 'Phase Mode' normally set to 'Auto'; the charger then uses the safe configuration that is available at that time.
During an active charging session you can view the phases: open the charger and tap the wave or current display. Each circle shows the current on a phase and the measured voltage between the phases. The set value of the circuit fuse is shown in gray at the top. The Equalizer also shows the phases it measures. This view shows what is happening, but does not prove that the car itself supports 11 or 22 kW.
- Open your charger's product card in the Easee app.
- Tap the gear and open 'Phase Mode'.
- Choose 'Automatic'. Only select '1 phase' or '3 phase' if we or the vehicle manufacturer recommend this for your situation.
- On a 400 V TN network, many recent electric cars support three-phase AC charging.
- On an IT network of 3 × 230 V, support varies per vehicle. To do this, check the technical data of the on-board charger.
- On an IT network, Easee does not switch in three-phase under 11 A. If the available current decreases further due to load balancing, the charger can continue in single-phase.
- Some cars do not automatically switch back to three phases within the same session. Pausing and restarting or reconnecting the cable may be necessary.
Is 'Phase mode' missing, does the car continue to charge in one phase or do you not know which network you have? Do not change the electrical connection. Please note the vehicle model and app status shown so we can check the correct setting.
Back to searchWhat is covered by the 5 year warranty on my Easee installation?Charging stations & installation · Short answer
For an Easee installation supplied and installed by Laadnatie, you receive a 5-year warranty on the complete fixed installation. If a manufacturing defect or fault is covered by the warranty, we also cover the necessary labour and travel.
Is the charger defective and is it covered by the warranty? We will then immediately bring a replacement device and change the charger during the same appointment. This way you can reload after our visit.
Loose accessories and consumables, such as Easee Keys and charging cables, are excluded from this warranty. We assess damage due to incorrect use, external intervention or a cause outside the installation supplied by us separately.

- The power cable to the charging device, if it was supplied and installed by Laadnatie.
- The cabinet components that we supplied and installed for the charging installation.
- Labor hours and travel that are directly necessary to correct a covered manufacturing defect or malfunction of these parts.
First report a problem by telephone or e-mail. We check the installation and determine which parts and interventions are covered by the warranty. Do not open the charger or electrical box yourself.
Back to searchWill ISO 15118-20 become mandatory for home charging stations?Charging stations & installation · Extensive article
Under the current European rules, private charging points newly installed or substantially renovated from 1 January 2027 for charging mode 3 or 4 must meet at least EN ISO 15118-20:2022. A fixed home charger with a Type 2 socket usually operates in charging mode 3 and therefore falls within that rule.

How do I access my Easee charger after installation?Easee App & Access · Short answer
After installation, we will link your Easee charger and charging location to the email address you provided us. Create your Easee account with that exact address, confirm your email address, and then accept any invitations you receive from Easee.
Creating an Easee account does not in itself grant access or ownership. Also check your spam folder. With an additional charger, a charger invitation can only follow if you already own the location.
Is something missing? Do not create a second account, do not delete a product or add the charger yourself with a serial number or PIN code. Locate Product only reveals a product you already have access to and does not grant any new rights. We will check the connection and finalize your access.
- Open the Easee app and choose 'Create account'. Enter your country, name, email address and password; a telephone number is optional.
- Accept the terms and conditions and confirm your account via the email from Easee.
- Log in and accept all open invitations for your charging location and charger. These may arrive as separate invitations.
- Make sure both the location and charger are listed on the app's home screen.
I am moving to a home with an Easee charger. How do I get access?Easee App & Access · Short answer
Call or email us when you take over a home with an existing Easee charger. We supervise the transfer of ownership and invite you as the owner of the correct charging location.
Provide us with the installation address, your Easee account email address and, if available, the charger's serial number. The transfer is complete when the location and charger appear in the new owner's app.
Do not attempt to claim the installation yourself with a found PIN code and do not remove any covers. With a shared installation, we arrange access together with the location manager via the designated route.
Back to searchHow do I invite a family member, employee or other user?Easee App & Access · Short answer
If you are the owner or manager of the charging location, you can invite members yourself via the Easee app or Easee Control. Use the email address of the Easee account that person will actually load from.
In a privately set location, only approved users can load. If you only want to give someone access to one specific charger at a shared location, please contact us first. To achieve this, the charging location must be technically correctly set up.
Back to searchWhat is the difference between owner, manager and user?Easee App & Access · Short answer
A Easee charging location has one owner. It has full access to the location, settings, users and reports. The owner can appoint multiple managers for daily management.
- Owner — full rights and authority to transfer ownership.
- Administrator — can manage settings and users, but cannot transfer ownership.
- User — can charge and view their own consumption, but cannot change location settings or view other people's consumption.
We arrange the initial owner access and assist with a subsequent transfer of ownership.
Back to searchWho can use my Easee charger?Easee App & Access · Short answer
Easee has three access levels. During installation, we set the level that suits your home, business, settlement and chosen charging operator.
- Open — anyone who can physically reach the charger can charge without an account or key. Charging sessions cannot then be reliably linked to individual users.
- Public — charging requires an Easee account or a suitable registered RFID key and suits visitors or publicly accessible charging points.
- Private — only explicitly approved users can load. This gives the most control and the clearest reporting per user.
With an external charging operator, access can be managed in their app. Older Easee screens may still show names such as 'Key Only'.
Back to searchHow does access work at a shared charging location?Easee App & Access · Short answer
At a shared charging location, users can gain access to all linked charging points or to one assigned charger if the location is set up for this. We take care of the technical configuration.
With linked chargers, an approved user can charge at all linked charging points. If a resident has a permanent parking space, we can assign the corresponding charger separately to a suitable shared installation.
Owners and managers can then invite the right members themselves. A third-party administrator or operator can prescribe a different app, account procedure, or key.
Back to searchHow do I add an Easee Key or RFID Key and view usage?Easee App & Access · Short answer
For personal use, it is best to add an Easee Key or RFID tag as an account key. Open 'Keys' at the bottom of the Easee app, choose 'Account' and then 'Add account key'. Scan the tag with your phone or at the charger, or enter the key number.
Easee distinguishes four key types. Choose the type based on who is allowed to charge, whether the key should work offline and whether the consumption should be assigned to a person.
Only sessions that are actually started with an account or imported account key can be assigned to that user. You can see your own consumption in the app. An owner or administrator with appropriate permissions can view and export location reports in Easee Control.
Preferably use an Easee Key or RFID/NFC tag with a fixed identification code. Contactless payment cards and smartphones are usually unsuitable because their identification code can change. If a card is recognized, it only serves as a key: no payment is ever made via the card.
- Account key — personal and linked to one Easee account; the consumption can be assigned to that user.
- Location key — Managed by an owner or manager for one location and not associated with a single personal account.
- Imported account key — also stored locally on one charger via Bluetooth; works offline and maintains account link.
- Local key — works offline on one loader, but does not identify a user. The consumption only remains visible in the charger's total.
- A loader stores up to ten imported account keys and local keys together.
For a location key you need the correct location role. Do you not see the option, is a key rejected or do you not know which account it is linked to? Then make a note of the charger's serial number, key ID, and the time of your attempt. Export an administrative report before deleting a key you use for that purpose.

Back to searchWhat can I view and control in the Easee app?Easee App & Access · Short answer
The Easee app has two views: Effortless and Classic. In the current Effortless view, open the home screen, choose the charging location we have created for you and select the charger. On the product card you can see the status, connection and charging current and you can start or pause a session. Tap the charger settings cog at the top right.
Location settings such as charge price, manager, circuit limits and fuse details are not available for every role. Deactivating the charger in the app is also not the same as switching off the electrical power supply. Do not change any fuse value, operator or installation limit without consultation: we have tailored this to the cabling and protection.
- Charger settings — activate or deactivate the charger, view serial number and WiFi, choose available phase mode and manage charging current, cable lock and access as your role and operator allow.
- Location overview — tap the arrow or swipe down on the product card. Here you will find the products, joint consumption and location settings.
- About the location — shows address, location type, location key, location ID, and your user role, among other things. With this information we can find the right location more quickly.
- Preferences — manage app style, theme, language and notifications. The app follows the language of your phone by default; You can choose another language via 'Profile' and 'Preferences'.
- Notifications — your choice applies to all chargers on your account. You can completely disable push notifications via your phone's system settings.
Effortless has been the standard for new users since 16 June 2026; existing customers can still see Classic. Your role, operator, and location configuration determine which buttons and features are available.
Back to searchCan I adjust the charging current of my Easee myself?Easee App & Access · Short answer
If you own the charging location, you can reduce or limit the maximum current of your own charger. Open the charger in the Easee app, tap the cog at the top right, choose 'Maximum charging current', tap 'Edit' and save the desired value in amperes or as a percentage.
- Preferably adjust the limit of one charger, not the limit of the entire circuit or location.
- A temporary charging limit on the product card applies to the current or next session; 'Maximum charging current' in the settings is the upper limit of that charger.
- A lower value can be useful if you want to charge more slowly temporarily. A higher value does not allow the vehicle to charge faster than the vehicle, cable, installation and available capacity allow.
- We determine the circuit fuse and installation limit during installation. We adjust the configured fuse value as a registered installer; don't do that yourself.
Never increase a circuit or fuse value yourself or change anything in the electrical cabinet. If the limit seems wrong, write down the set value and the speed your car actually reaches. We always check charger, cabling, protection, grid connection and load balancing together.
Back to searchDoes an Easee have a fixed charging cable and can I lock my cable?Easee App & Access · Short answer
A Easee does not have a fixed charging cable, but a Type 2 connection. So you choose a suitable Type 2 cable in the desired length; a special Easee cable is not required. If you want to leave the cable hanging at home, select 'Always locked' in the Easee app. The plug on the charging station side then remains locked, even when the car is not connected.
- Open your charger in the Easee app.
- Tap the cable icon.
- Choose 'Always locked'.
- The charger always locks the cable automatically during charging.
- In the normal 'Locked' position, the cable is released as soon as you pull it out of the car.
- With 'Always locked' the cable remains attached to the Easee even after charging.
- Because the cable is not built-in, you can easily choose a different length later or just replace the cable.
- We supply universal three-phase Type 2 cables of 32 A and 22 kW with lengths of 3, 5, 10 and 15 meters. The simulator shows the current prices.
If you want to take the cable with you, first disable 'Always locked'. If it does not release, do not force or open the charger.
Back to searchWhere can I find my charging consumption in the Easee app?Easee App & Access · Short answer
Each Easee charger measures the energy of the charging sessions. In the Easee app you can view the charging consumption of your entire charging location or of one specific charger per day, month or year.
A circle next to a value means that the corresponding charging session is still in progress. The lifetime consumption at the bottom always remains in kWh, even when you have selected the cost display.
If your app looks different, you may still be using the Classic view. There you will find the consumption of one charger on the product map and the joint location consumption on the site map. You can switch between Classic and Effortless via 'Profile' and 'Preferences'.
If the charger is temporarily offline, it stores the consumption data and measured kWh locally and forwards it after the connection is restored. Session start and end times may be less accurate during the offline period. Therefore, for administratively important reports, check at least every two days whether the charger is online.
- Open the Easee app and choose the charging location we have created for your installation.
- Are you using the Effortless view? Swipe down the product card or tap the small arrow to collapse the card. Then tap 'Usage'.
- By default, the app shows the current month and the combined consumption of all products. If you have multiple chargers, select the desired charger at the top.
- Switch between month and year and swipe to a previous period. Tap a bar to view an individual day's usage.
- Use the graph icon to switch between graph and table views. You can also switch between energy in kWh and calculated costs.
- If you are working with Easee Keys or linked RFID keys, use the filter icon to view the usage of a specific key or user.
The cost view uses the charging price set for the location. That amount is not automatically equal to your actual energy bill, the dynamic rate or the agreed reimbursement. For an administrative report, note which period, charger and user you need; we check which reporting suits your installation and access rights.

About automatic power control, capacity tariff, solar energy and dynamic prices.
What exactly does load balancing do?Smart charging & energy · Extensive article
Load balancing, or automatic power control, divides the available power between your Easee chargers and, with an Equalizer, between the charging installation and the rest of your home or building. This way, the set fuse limits are respected and the car uses as much as possible of what is available at that moment.
Extensive articleRead the complete guide to load balancingBack to searchAt what power can an Easee charger start charging?Smart charging & energy · Short answer
With automatic phase mode and dynamic load balancing, a three-phase connected Easee can also start single-phase from 6 A. At a nominal voltage of 230 V, this is 230 V × 6 A = 1.380 W, rounded to approximately 1,4 kW.
This low starting threshold is especially useful for solar charging, a heavily loaded home or a limited main connection: the car can therefore use a small available power. The vehicle, set charging mode and stable available capacity continue to determine when the session actually starts.
- The lower limit of 6 A results from the minimum AC charging current that the car's on-board charger can accept via the Type 2 control. So it does not mean that the Easee charger has too little power.
- If less than 6 A is temporarily available, the Equalizer will let the session wait instead of overloading your main connection. As soon as sufficient capacity is available again, charging can start.
- On a TN network of 3 × 400 V + N, three-phase charging requires at least 6 A on each phase: approximately 3 × 230 V × 6 A = 4,1 kW. Auto phase mode can provide a lower starting threshold by using one phase first. Different conditions apply on an IT network of 3 × 230 V; Easee does not switch three-phase under 11 A.
Does the car not start from 1,4 kW, does it stay in the queue or does it not shift as expected? Then make a note of the app status and the time. We check the phase mode, Equalizer, set limits and compatibility of the car.
Back to searchWhy is my car in the charging queue?Smart charging & energy · Extensive article
A charging queue can arise when there is temporarily not enough power to provide all connected vehicles with at least the required charging current. That lower limit is usually 6 A, but can depend on the car and phase mode. The waiting vehicle is then not necessarily defective: the installation monitors the limits and can start charging as soon as sufficient capacity becomes available.
Extensive articleRead the full articleBack to searchDoes Easee load balancing work without internet?Smart charging & energy · Short answer
Yes. In a typical Easee home installation with one master charger, the Equalizer sends its measurement data directly to the charger vian Easee Link radio. This means that the charging current remains automatically regulated even without internet, as long as the Equalizer receives measurement data and the radio signal reaches the charger. The main fuse protection then remains active.
What is lost when the Equalizer has no internet? You won't see any live Equalizer data in the app. When only the radio link is working, no 24 hourly usage is accrued and the Equalizer does not receive automatic firmware updates. You cannot remotely change Equalizer settings or a mode such as solar charging. In the meantime, the local load balancing that has been set will continue to work. The charger itself may still be accessible via LTE-M or locally via Bluetooth.
Only when the Equalizer no longer receives measurement data or loses both the radio and local WiFi connection to the master charger, it can no longer make dynamic adjustments. The charger then falls back to a preset safe value for the charging current until communication is restored. Different conditions apply for large charging locations that are controlled via the cloud and a continuous internet connection may be required.
- Directly via radio — in a typical home installation, the Equalizer communicates locally with the master charger vian Easee Link. This does not require an internet connection or a shared WiFi network.
- Range — Easee states a maximum of approximately 50 meters in open air without obstacles. Indoors, approximately 10 to 30 meters is more realistic. Walls, insulation, concrete and metal can greatly weaken the radio signal.
- Wi-Fi as an additional route — the Equalizer and master charger can also communicate over the same local 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi network. For larger local installations with multiple master chargers, a stable shared WiFi network is required.
- Built-in cellular connectivity — the charger can stay connected to the Easee Cloud through its built-in LTE-M Cloud in the event of WiFi loss. The Equalizer itself does not have 4G; its local measurement data reaches the master charger vian Easee Link radio or the local WiFi network.
If the Equalizer appears as offline but the car charges normally, local protection is usually still active. If in doubt, do not change the network, Equalizer or fuse settings yourself. Make a note of the app status and time so that we can check range and charging behavior.
Back to searchCan I charge with my solar panels?Smart charging & energy · Short answer
Yes. With the Equalizer you can charge with your solar surplus, while the control also takes the other consumption in the house into account. We install the control and set it up for your connection.
The Equalizer measures per phase whether your home consumes or returns electricity. Household consumption is first deducted from production. With smaller or varying solar production, single-phase solar charging is therefore often more efficient than three-phase charging. Because the control is waiting for sufficiently stable production, starting or adjusting may take several minutes.
An active charging schedule remains in effect. For example, if your schedule is only active at night, the charger will not automatically use your solar surplus during the day.
If the behavior remains different than expected after we have set up solar charging, please note the time and the measurement data shown. This allows us to check the phases and selected solar mode.
- Limited grid use — solar energy is given priority and the grid makes up for any shortage, so your car continues to charge.
- Only surplus — the car only starts when there is sufficient actual solar surplus available.
- Single-phase charging requires at least 6 A or approximately 1,4 kW surplus.
- Three-phase solar charging on a TN grid requires at least 6 A on all three phases, together approximately 4,1 kW. The phase with the smallest surplus limits the entire session.
How do I set an Easee charging schedule and why doesn't my car start right away?Smart charging & energy · Short answer
Choose one system to plan your charging moments: the Easee app, your car or a linked energy service. Multiple active schedules can block each other. In Easee you can choose a one-time delayed start, a recurring weekly plan or smart charging via a supported operator.
An existing Easee schedule remains active when the charger goes offline. Bring the charger online to structurally change the schedule; via Bluetooth you can temporarily overwrite or deactivate an existing schedule locally, depending on the app and firmware.
Some cars go into sleep mode shortly after parking and cannot always be woken up by the charging station. Outside a scheduled time window, preheating via mains power can also be blocked.
- Delayed start — applies once and starts the session at a chosen time. Once charging has started, it will not stop automatically when a more expensive tariff period starts later.
- Weekly plan — supports up to two charging periods per day. On days you do not select, the charger may charge at any time.
- Smart charging — a supported operator can control the charging moment based on load, energy price or other parameters.
- Only one scheduling type can be active at a time in Easee.
If charging does not start, check the schedule in the car, Easee app and any energy or smart home apps. Are you unable to find out which regulation is preventing charging? Then note the status and time.
Back to searchHow does a dynamic energy rate work?Smart charging & energy · Short answer
With a dynamic electricity contract, the energy part of your price follows the wholesale market. Depending on your contract, the price changes per hour or per fifteen minutes. With a digital meter and the correct measuring regime, your actual purchase will be charged at the price of each time block.
The CREG calculated for 2025 that the average unit price of a dynamic product was 24% lower in the afternoon than in the evening. In that analysis, an electric car with 3.000 kWh annual consumption charged exclusively in the evening cost € 152 more than in the afternoon and € 94 more than between midnight and 6 hours. These are historical averages, no guarantee for tomorrow.
The Flemish Utility Regulator counted hours with negative market prices in 2025 520. However, you do not automatically receive money for charging: your supplier's price formula and all non-energy components determine whether your total purchase price really becomes negative.
- You see the prices in advance and plan major consumers, such as your electric car or home battery, in the cheapest periods as much as possible.
- The advantage is greatest when you can automatically shift a significant part of your consumption and do not have to charge at expensive times.
- The dynamic market price is only the energy part. Network rates, levies, VAT and supplier costs continue to determine your final invoice.
- A negative stock market price does not automatically mean that your total purchase price is negative or completely free. Injection can also yield little or cost money at such times.
- Since October 1 2025, the Belgian day-ahead market has been quoting prices per quarter of an hour. Your own rate card determines how your supplier charges the market price, margin and fixed costs.
- Special EV contracts such as ENGIE Empower work differently: they offer fixed off-peak or super off-peak periods and can reward smart charging, without you having to monitor every changing market price yourself.
A dynamic rate is not an automatic saving. Compare the full rate card. We coordinate the control of your car, charging station, solar panels and any battery. For mains charging with a home battery, the price difference must also cover conversion loss, wear and tear and any additional monthly peak.

These are three different things. The P1 port is a connection on your digital meter through which a device such as an Equalizer reads your current consumption. The 15-minute readings in Mijn Fluvius show how much electricity you import from or export to the grid in each 15-minute period. SMR3 is the arrangement that allows Fluvius to pass those 15-minute data to your energy supplier.
- P1 port — sends electricity data locally approximately every second to a connected application. You activate the gate yourself via Mijn Fluvius; the effective activation can take up to 72 hours.
- 15-minute readings in Mijn Fluvius — give you personal insight into consumption, injection and peaks, but are not automatically shared with your supplier due to this setting.
- SMR3 — request this through your energy supplier. It is necessary, among other things, for a dynamic or time-of-use contract, energy sharing and certain flexibility services.
- A working P1 port for load balancing does not automatically mean that your energy contract is already settled on quarter-hourly values.
We connect the Equalizer and check whether the measurement data is received. If the P1 port still needs to be activated or if you want a dynamic contract, this permission is obtained via Mijn Fluvius and your energy supplier respectively.

Read about SMR3What is the Walloon Tariff Impact and when is it interesting for an electric car?Smart charging & energy · Short answer
Since 2026, Tariff Impact has been an optional Walloon distribution network tariff for customers with a communicating meter that can shift large consumers. It can be interesting if you mainly charge your car during cheap hours; Those who often have to charge between 17 and 22 hours may actually be more expensive.
- ECO — every day from 01.00 to 07.00 hours and from 11.00 to 17.00 hours.
- MEDIUM — every day from 07.00 to 11.00 hours and from 22.00 to 01.00 hours.
- PIC — every day from 17.00 to 22.00 hours; avoid large consumers here when you choose Tarif Impact.
- The rate is not activated automatically. You choose it through your energy supplier and compare your real profile with the official simulator in advance.
Tariff Impact is not the same as the Flemish capacity tariff or a dynamic energy contract. The cheapest hours for your grid costs may differ from the cheapest hours for the electricity itself. Therefore, look at both together.

Back to searchCan I supply energy from my car with my Easee charger?Smart charging & energy · Manual
Charge Max and Charge Pro have hardware that is prepared for bidirectional charging (V2G-ready), according to Easee. Availability varies per country and per combination of car, charging point and service.
Extensive articleRead what V2G-ready means for your installationBack to searchDo I always need load balancing at a charging station?Smart charging & energy · Extensive article
Not always. Load balancing, or automatic power control, is especially sensible when the charging station can use a large part of the available power or when several heavy appliances operate simultaneously. We compare your main protection, home consumption and desired charging speed before we decide.
Extensive articleLearn when load balancing is necessaryBack to searchDoes my car charge faster with load balancing?Smart charging & energy · Extensive article
Load balancing does not make your car or charging station more powerful. The control uses the available power more intelligently. If the home uses little, the car can get more. If home consumption increases, the control temporarily reduces the charging current.

Extensive articleRead how load balancing and solar charging work togetherBack to searchDoes a charging station of 11 kW automatically cause a peak of 11 kW?Smart charging & energy · Guide & calculation tool
No. The digital meter records the average total grid consumption of your home during every fifteen minutes. Home consumption counts on top of the charging capacity, while direct solar production or a discharging home battery can reduce grid consumption. Dynamic load balancing can reduce the charging station to limit the total peak.
Extensive articleSee how charging capacity and home consumption together determine your peakBack to searchDoes one high quarter-hour peak immediately cost me hundreds of euros?Smart charging & energy · Guide & calculation tool
No. The average of your monthly peaks counts for your invoice. One high month therefore counts together with the other months. If eleven months remain at 4,24 kW and one month reaches 12 kW, the indicative additional cost at the average Flemish rate of 2026 is approximately € 34,53 excl. VAT. A high peak that returns every month has much more weight.

Why does my Easee charge slower in hot weather?Troubleshooting · Short answer
A Easee charger continuously monitors the temperature of the environment and its internal components. If the charger is in full sunlight or the temperature rises sharply, it can temporarily reduce the charging current to continue working safely.
A device in direct sunlight can become 40 to 50 °C warm before charging starts. That protection behavior is normal. If the charging speed remains lower than expected even in cooler weather, we will check which other limit is active.
Back to searchWhy does my car charge slower than expected or does the app show different values?Troubleshooting · Short answer
In the Easee app, tap the lightning icon. The lowest restriction shown determines the speed. This could be your car, charging cable, fuse, set charging current, a schedule, load balancing or a linked energy service.
A car may start or slow down when the battery is almost full. The Easee app measures at the charger, while the car reports what ends up in the battery after conversion losses. A small difference between the two values is therefore normal.
Note the restriction shown and the time. This allows us to review the session more quickly.
Back to searchCan I charge if my Easee charger is offline?Troubleshooting · Short answer
Yes. Your Easee charger can continue to charge normally even without internet. The charger uses WiFi as the main connection and has a built-in, pre-activated LTE-M/eSIM connection as a backup. You do not have to insert a SIM card yourself and you do not need a separate mobile subscription.
Bluetooth is a local backup connection. Stay close to the charger, open 'Charger Settings' in the Easee app and choose 'Connect via Bluetooth'. If the charger is not found, press and hold the touch button above the light strip for at least five seconds; the strip will turn blue and the charger will emit a confirmation tone.
You can, among other things, start or pause charging via Bluetooth. You can also manage cable lock, power limit, Wi-Fi, and view device information. Editing schedules, usage reports and firmware updates do not work completely via Bluetooth. The connection therefore does not replace the internet for Equalizer and cloud functions.
- An existing charging schedule remains active locally, but you cannot change it remotely as long as the charger is offline.
- Local load balancing can continue to work, but current cloud status, remote control and software updates are temporarily unavailable.
- The measured kWh are stored locally and forwarded after recovery; session start and end times may be less accurate.
- With an external charging operator, starting or registering an offline session may work differently.
Pressing the button for five seconds will disconnect another active Bluetooth connection. Does the charger remain offline, does it not appear in your account or does it not connect locally? Then record the app status and time so we can check Wi-Fi, mobile coverage, firmware and configuration.
Back to searchWhy is my charging session set to 'Paused'?Troubleshooting · Short answer
The 'Paused' status is created by a manual command or by a linked app or service. It is not an error message from the charging station and is not caused by the Equalizer or a temporary shortage of available power.
- Tap 'Start' once in the Easee app.
- If the session is immediately paused again, check which smart charging, energy, car or smart home apps have access to the charger. Such a service can automatically pause the session and restart it later.
- Also check if another user with access has manually paused the session.
- Note the exact time and take a screenshot of the status if possible.
Will 'Paused' keep coming back? Do not switch the electrical protection off and on repeatedly. Make a note of the time and the associated apps so we can find out where the pause command came from.
Back to searchWhy doesn't charging start or stops unexpectedly?Troubleshooting · Short answer
First check whether the cable is fully connected and immediately view the status in the Easee app. The charger is often waiting for permission, a schedule, the vehicle or available capacity.
- Check the notification and active limit in the Easee app.
- Check charging limits and schedules in the car, Easee app and linked services.
- Check whether a heavy appliance requires a lot of power or whether one phase is heavily loaded.
- For load balancing, wait a few minutes after capacity becomes available; resuming may take up to about ten minutes.
Do not open the charger or modify the electrical installation yourself. Provide us with the app status and the exact time the problem occurred.
Back to searchWhy does my car charge at a DC fast charger, but not at home?Troubleshooting · Short answer
With AC home charging and DC fast charging, your car uses different parts. At home, your car's AC on-board charger converts alternating current to direct current. A DC fast charger largely does this conversion itself and bypasses this on-board charger. Successful DC charging therefore does not prove that your car's AC charger or Type 2 cable is working correctly.
- Check exact status, permission, schedules and charging limits in the Easee app.
- Firmly reconnect the Type 2 cable at both ends.
- If possible, test another suitable Type 2 cable.
- Then, if necessary, test another vehicle on the same Easee charger.
- If the problem persists, note the time and the app status shown.
Do not open the charger or modify the electrical installation. With the app status and the outcome of a cable or vehicle test, we can specifically determine whether the cause lies with the vehicle, cable, access or installation.
Back to searchWhat do I do if the charging cable is stuck?Troubleshooting · Short answer
First disconnect the cable from the cart and disable the permanent cable lock in the Easee app. Then try to safely release the cable using the steps below.
- Push the plug firmly into the charging box.
- Simultaneously press and hold the touch button above the light strip.
- Wait until you hear the lock move.
- Then pull the cable straight out of the charger.
Is the cable not released, is the plug damaged or is the charger offline? Do not force or open the charger.
Back to searchWhat do white and blue lights mean on my Easee charger?Troubleshooting · Short answer
Always look at the color and the movement of the Easee light strip. White and blue can both indicate normal charging status.
- One or two white lights at the bottom — the charger is ready; two lights indicate the primary charger.
- Completely solid white or blue — the cart has been recognized, but charging is not yet active.
- Pulsing white or blue — the charging session is active. Blue belongs to Smart Charging.
- Flashing white — the charger is usually waiting for permission via the app or an approved key.
Continuous light does not have to mean a malfunction: a schedule, power control or the vehicle itself can postpone charging.
Back to searchWhat should I do if there is red, yellow or no light?Troubleshooting · Short answer
Red light may indicate a denied permission or a safety stop. First view the notification in the Easee app. Stop charging if there is a continuous red light, a temperature warning or a safety device that switches off.
- Red after a start attempt via the app, an Easee Key or a RFID tag — the permission has probably not been accepted.
- Solid red — the charger has locked itself for safety reasons.
- Flashing yellow at the bottom — the configuration must be completed by us as the installer.
- No light — there may be a problem with power, configuration, brightness, or connection.
Do not force a locked plug or repeatedly switch on a circuit breaker or differential switch. If possible, make a short video of the pattern and note the app notification.
Back to searchMy Equalizer is offline, does not show light or provide measurement data. What does that mean?Troubleshooting · Short answer
'Offline' in the app usually indicates a missing WiFi or internet connection from the Equalizer. In a typical home installation, local load balancing vian Easee Link radio with the master charger can continue to work. Offline in the app does not automatically mean that the protection of your main fuse has failed.
- No light — the P1 or HAN port may not be providing power or measurement data.
- Light but no meter readings — there is probably a communication problem with the meter port or configuration.
- Offline in the app, but normal charging behavior — the Equalizer can still communicate directly with the master charger via radio. Live data, 24 hourly consumption, settings and firmware updates will not be available.
- No radio and no local WiFi connection to the master charger — the charger falls back to a preset safe value for the charging current until communication is restored.
If necessary, ask your grid operator to activate or reset the P1 or HAN port. Do not work in the fuse box yourself. Please note the app status and light display so that we can check the measurement data, Easee Link range and settings.
Back to searchHow do I change or restore the WiFi of my Equalizer?Troubleshooting · Short answer
In the Easee app, open 'Products', 'Equalizer', 'Equalizer settings' and 'Wi-Fi'. Choose 'Search' and reconnect to a secure 2,4 GHz network with DHCP.
A network that only uses 5 GHz will not work. Ensure sufficient range and do not place the Equalizer and the WiFi point together in the same metal cabinet. With a mesh network, temporarily connecting directly to the main router can help.
If reconnection does not work, we will check the network coverage and the installation together.

Is public charging more expensive than charging at home?Management & billing · Short answer
Charging at home is often cheaper, but the difference depends on your energy contract and the rate of the public charging point. To illustrate: at € 0,25 per kWh at home, 40 kWh charging costs € 10. At € 0,50 per kWh at a public charging point, this is € 20, before any additional costs. This is a calculation example, not an overview of current market prices.
- The actual home price depends on your energy contract, grid costs, levies and when you charge.
- Public rates vary per charging point, operator and charging card. There may also be additional start-up, session, roaming or blocking charges.
- With your own solar surplus, the extra energy costs of charging at home can be very low. Your solar panels and installation itself are of course not free.
- With a dynamic contract you can shift your charging moments to cheap hours. Suppliers with a special EV rate, such as ENGIE Empower, also offer extra low off-peak or super off-peak rates.
Use your own electricity price and check the rate for public charging in the app or with the charging card before you start the session. Also compare any additional costs.
Back to searchWhich charging card provider do you recommend?Management & billing · Short answer
We recommend Tap Electric for public charging. The main reason is the transparent price display: before you start a session, you can see the rate of the charging station and any Tap transaction costs in the app. This way you can compare charging points and costs in advance.
No Tap transaction fee does not mean the charge is free. You still pay the charging station operator's rate and any start-up, time, parking or connection costs associated with that charging point.
- Without a subscription, Tap currently charges 10% transaction costs per session on top of the charging station rate.
- With the paid subscription for Belgium, currently € 2,50 per month, Tap charges 0% transaction fees of its own. This may be worthwhile if you regularly charge at public chargers.
- The app also shows availability, charging capacity and a detailed cost overview before you start.
- Not every public charging station is available via Tap. Therefore, check the coverage and current price in the app before departure.
This is independent advice: Laadnatie will not receive any compensation if you choose Tap Electric and the link below does not contain a referral code. Rates and subscription conditions may change; therefore always check the current formula in the app.

Extensive articleView current and historical ratesBack to searchWhat does MID mean and when do I need it?Management & billing · Short answer
MID refers to the European directive for measuring instruments. Charge Max and Charge Pro have an integrated class B MID meter as standard with an accuracy of ±1% and a screen on which you can see the total measured charging consumption in kWh.
A MID-validated meter reading is especially important when electricity must be reimbursed or charged correctly and verifiably, for example by an employer, your own company or a customer. This certified measurement is available as standard in both charging station models that we offer.
MID validates the measurement. It does not automatically determine which energy rate applies, who has charged, how the refund is processed or how the management platform works. Access, reporting and settlement must also be set up correctly.
For reimbursement, professional use or an ERE-prepared installation, we will determine together whether Charge Max or Charge Pro and the chosen meter version suit your situation.
Back to searchWhat does ERE-prepared mean?Management & billing · Short answer
At Charge Max and Charge Pro, ERE-prepared is a designation for possible applications with their certified MID meter. It does not mean that you can automatically participate in a scheme in Belgium or receive compensation.
Whether an ERE application is available in Belgium and entitles you to compensation depends on the applicable scheme and service provider. ERE-prepared is therefore a technical characteristic and no guarantee of participation or returns.

The CPO, or Charge Point Operator, manages access, session data and settlement via that platform, among other things. We act as CPO for this solution without subscription fees or platform costs.

No. Within the Laadnatie solution we arrange the invoicing and VAT processing of the charging transactions. You do not have to prepare an invoice for every session yourself. Your employer or company remains responsible for its own accounting and tax processing. To set up the platform we need correct bank, address and identification details.

The home batteries we offer include a separate environmental contribution for collection and recycling. We include it in your indicative price and quotation. On 2 September 2026, the Bebat rate for rechargeable lithium batteries in an energy storage system (ESS) up to and including 16 MWh was € 2,89 per kg excluding VAT. We calculate the contribution using the battery weight covered by the scheme, including the built-in battery and any expansion modules. The applicable VAT treatment is then applied.

A home battery can be interesting if you regularly put solar power on the grid during the day and purchase power again in the evening or at night. Charging via the grid can also be useful with a dynamic rate, if the price difference covers all additional costs. We look at your measurement data per quarter of an hour, energy contract and consumption moments to assess whether you can use the storage often enough.

A home battery can view car charging as home consumption and discharge it to the set minimum charge. This also applies to a more powerful Mix model. We coordinate charging times, battery reserve and energy management with you. With the 2400 AC+ we set the minimum charge to 10% by default, with the option to reduce it to 5% within the device settings. We will confirm the available arrangement for the chosen system upon installation.

Not every home battery automatically powers your home in the event of a power outage. The SolarFlow 2400 AC+ and 4000 Mix have a separate off-grid port for suitable devices. With the 4000 Mix and Zendure PowerHub 1P or 3P we can also provide complete customized home backup. We check your connection, the power per phase and the desired reserve. This separate emergency power installation is not included as standard in the simulator setup. Contact us for tailor-made advice.

Yes, a suitable single-phase home battery can also reduce the total measured grid consumption in a three-phase home. The digital meter adds up the simultaneous power across the phases. We check the connection of the exact model to 3 × 400 V + N or 3 × 230 V, the joint inverter power and the protection separately. You do not automatically need three battery devices because your home is three-phase.

There is no reliable average payback period that applies to every Flemish family. The result depends on the purchase price, the electricity you put on the grid and later purchase, your energy contract, grid rates, losses, wear and tear and control. Without your measurement data, a calculation remains an estimate, not personal advice.
Extensive articleRead what determines the payback periodBack to searchHow big should my home battery be?Home batteries · Extensive article
The right size depends on how much electricity you can store on a regular day and use later. If the battery is too large, part of the storage often remains unused. You then pay for capacity that you rarely use. We look at your consumption per 15 minutes, the differences between the seasons and how much power the battery must be able to supply at the same time.

Sometimes. The electricity must be sufficiently cheaper when charging than when you use it. Compare all costs per additional kWh and also include energy loss and battery wear. Fixed subscription costs are not included in the cost of an extra kWh. We will assess any higher monthly peak separately. The sample prices in the guide are fictitious; your own contract and 15-minute readings determine the result.
