Installation involves more than mounting and setting your charging station. The electrical control and the necessary administration must also be in order. Below you can read what we arrange, what you do yourself and which documents you keep.
This guide is about private charging stations in Flanders, within the Fluvius area. Additional technical questions may arise for a shared parking lot, company connection or bidirectional charging point. We will discuss this with you before installation, together with the quotation and the cable route.
Do you live in the Brussels Capital Region? Report the installation, change or removal of your charging point to Sibelga. The Flemish threshold of 5 kVA does not apply there. The official Brussels procedure is below with the sources.
The inspection and registration each have their own purpose.
A recognized inspection body checks whether the electrical installation complies with the General Regulations on Electrical Installations, the AREI. For a new household installation or an important extension, such as an additional circuit in the distribution panel, this check must be carried out before commissioning.
The registration is a separate registration with Fluvius. It gives the grid operator insight into the charging points and the load on the electricity grid. You submit this report yourself via Mijn Fluvius, even when we request the inspection for you.
When should you report your charging station to Fluvius?
Private charging stations on the low-voltage network with a power rating of 5 kVA or more must be registered with Fluvius. This is done via Mijn Fluvius. The reporting rule also applies to a private charging point that your employer makes available; the financing in itself does not determine whether a charging point is public.
According to Fluvius, public and semi-public charging points are already known in the public charging station network and therefore do not follow the same notification in Mijn Fluvius. A parking space on a business site is not automatically semi-public: we will discuss with you how access and management are arranged.
We install your EV charger; you register it with Fluvius.
We take care of the installation and technical data of your charging point. If the inspection is included in your quotation, we will request it from a recognized inspection body. This independent body carries out the inspection and draws up the inspection report.
You report to Fluvius yourself. As a grid user, you remain responsible for the mandatory reporting. Therefore, check the information in Mijn Fluvius, submit your file and keep the confirmation of receipt. Whether the request for the inspection is included in your quotation does not change the legal obligation to inspect.
| Party | What does it regulate? |
|---|---|
| We as Laadnatie | The installation, settings, updated schematics and technical data. We will request the inspection if it is included in your quotation. |
| Recognized inspection body | The AREI check and the report with the result. |
| You | Registering with Fluvius, saving the confirmation and answering questions about missing data. |
| Employer or charging manager | The agreements regarding ownership, access, reimbursement and administration when that party is involved. |
Collect the data before you start reporting.
The Fluvius step-by-step plan requires the EAN code of your electricity connection, the positive inspection certificate and the single-wire diagram. The EAN code has 18 numbers and is stated on your energy bill. Use the code of the connection on which the charging point is actually located.
In addition, keep track of brand, model, serial number, maximum power, number of charging points, commissioning date and our details as an installer. With one folder on your computer or in your customer file, you avoid having to request serial numbers and documents again later.
- Check whether the address and charging station details on the documents match.
- Keep the complete, readable inspection report, together with the final diagrams.
- Please request missing technical data from us before completing the form.
- Use the right type of charging point: simply charge or also deliver from the car.
Report your charging station and check the processing.
For a regular, unidirectional charging station, go to 'Green power' in Mijn Fluvius and start a new installation. Select your connection and the type of private charging station. Then you fill in the installation details, upload the requested documents and send the file.
You will receive a confirmation and can track the charging station in the overview. Fluvius shows the details of the file after processing. Please keep the confirmation with your inspection report and check any requests for additional information.
- Register your charging station yourself following the positive inspection.
- Please check the completed information and attachments before sending.
- Save the confirmation of receipt in your installation file.
- Check whether the file has been processed and respond to questions about missing data.
Example: a charging station at home that your employer pays for.
Your employer orders a charging station for your home from us. We install the charging point and request the inspection if it is included in the quotation. The charging manager activates your charging card. You register the charging station yourself with Fluvius, even if your employer pays for the device and installation.
Use the positive inspection report, the updated schedules and the charging station data. After the notification, also save the confirmation from Fluvius. Discuss with your employer who will subsequently follow up on a relocation, replacement or transfer of ownership. This way you both have a usable file.
Are you unsure about a charging station that has been there for some time?
First, find your inspection report and installation information. Then check your registration in Mijn Fluvius. If the notification is missing, prepare the file yourself with the correct historical data. Do not enter a new hire date to avoid missing records. Are you missing data from our installation? Please contact us.
A changed cable route, different electrical protection or a replaced charging station can raise new technical questions. We will discuss with you which documents and checks are required for that adjustment. You must submit a necessary change to your Fluvius notification yourself.
Short answer
Frequently asked questions
Is my charging station automatically registered when it has been inspected?
No. The inspection report and the Fluvius registration are two separate steps. You register your charging station yourself via Mijn Fluvius and save the confirmation. We will request the inspection if it is included in your quotation. A positive inspection alone does not prove registration with Fluvius.
Does a new charging station need to be electrically inspected?
With a new permanent charging station, the electrical installation is usually expanded with its own power path. According to the AREI, an important extension of a household installation must be checked by a recognized inspection body before being put into use.
From which power rating must I register my private EV charger?
Fluvius requires reporting of private charging stations on the low-voltage network from 5 kVA. Use the technical data of the charging station that we install for you. Are you unsure which assets you should give up? Please ask us before submitting your report.
Who reports a charging station that my employer pays for?
You register the charging station yourself at Fluvius, even if your employer pays for it. We install the charging point and request the inspection if it is included in the quotation. Check the connection address and EAN code and save the confirmation of your report.
Does the same reporting obligation apply to a mobile charging cable?
That depends on the purchasing power. Fluvius states that a socket charging cable does not have to be reported as long as it cannot consume more than 5 kW. Please refer to the separate Fluvius explanation and ask us to assess whether your socket is suitable.
