Automatic home charging allowance

How does the reimbursement for home charging work through your employer or company?

With your business charging card, home charging is automatically registered and settled. The charging session appears on the charging card invoice of your employer or company; the compensation will be deposited into your account the following month.

When you charge at home, you first pay for the electricity via your home's energy bill. The reimbursement platform registers how much electricity went to the company car and takes care of the settlement. This means you do not have to send meter readings, spreadsheets or separate expense reports every month.

We install and configure your charger, connect it to our management platform and help set the agreed rate. The platform controls who is allowed to charge, registers consumption and processes payment. The administrator is also called CPO: Charge Point Operator. Links between charging networks make it possible to use your existing business charging card; that's called roaming.

The refund takes place in five steps.

The daily operation is simple: connect the car and hold the correct business charging card against the charger. The platform links that card to the measured session. The charge card provider then charges the correct employer or company for the transaction.

  1. We install and activate the charging station and register the account into which the home charging allowance must be paid.
  2. You connect the car and hold the business charging card against the charger.
  3. The charger registers the charged kWh and links the session to that charging card.
  4. The charging card provider includes the session in the regular charging invoice of your employer or company.
  5. The reimbursement will be deposited into your account on the following month's 27th. A session from September will therefore be paid out on 27 October.

Laadnatie does not charge subscription fees or platform fees.

You do not pay any subscription fees or platform fees for our reimbursement and CPO platform. The registration, processing and payment of your home charging sessions therefore remain available without recurring compensation to Laadnatie.

The electricity, installation and any costs from the contract between your employer and the charging card issuer are separate from this. For example, a card issuer may charge your employer a card subscription, roaming costs or administration costs. That is not a cost of the Laadnatie platform.

Most business charging cards also work at home.

Our platform works with almost all current business charging cards via the connected roaming networks. Examples include Shell Recharge, Q8 electric, FleetPass, BMW Charging, MB.CHARGE Public and Plugsurfing. So you usually don't have to use a separate card just for your home charger.

Product names, card contracts and roaming agreements may change. Therefore, please provide us with the exact card or provider before activation. We check whether the card is active and can be used via the platform.

Your employer's agreements determine the rate.

The reimbursement platform does not determine how much your employer reimburses per kWh. This is stated in the vehicle policy, often called the car policy, or in the agreements with your own company. The compensation can be based on proven actual electricity costs or on a fixed amount per kWh, the flat rate. Under the flat-rate method, the official maximum for the quarter in question may not be exceeded.

The employer must be able to demonstrate that only the electricity for the company car is reimbursed. That is why we install a connected charging solution that verifiably records the charged kWh per session. Since 2025, specific accuracy requirements apply to new measuring systems. A Class B MID meter is a common way to measure accurately. However, the meter alone does not determine whether the complete solution meets all tax conditions.

We take care of the administration and VAT processing.

The administration and VAT processing of the charging transactions are done via our platform. So you do not have to prepare a charging invoice or calculate VAT for every home charging session. The platform bundles the registered transactions and the payout.

Your employer or company remains responsible for its own accounting, car policy and tax processing. If you work through your own company, agree with your accountant on which account the compensation will be received and how it will be booked in your specific situation.

Before the first session we check all settings.

Before you start charging, we check the Easee model, the meter and your charging card. We test the connection with the management platform, check who is allowed to use the charger and register the correct bank, address and identification details. We then start a test session with the correct charging card and check whether it appears in the platform.

The charging card determines who pays for the session; the access settings determine who can use the charger. Those are two different parts. We set both deliberately and explain after installation how to start a session correctly and where you can find the data.

  • Connected charging station with a stable OCPP connection to the management platform.
  • Verifiable kWh metering that suits the chosen reimbursement method.
  • Active business charging card with a supported roaming link.
  • Correct bank, address and identification details for the payout.
  • Clearly agreed rate and method in the car policy or with the company.

Frequently asked questions

How does the reimbursement for home charging via my employer or company work?

You hold your linked charging card against the home charger and start the session. The management platform registers the charged kWh and links the session to that charging card. The charging card provider includes the cost on your employer's or company's invoice. The home charging allowance will be paid to you the following month.

Are there subscription fees for Laadnatie's refund platform?

No. We do not charge any subscription fees or platform costs for the platform with which we manage your charging station and reimburse your charging costs. Costs from an external charging card provider, such as a card subscription, roaming or transaction costs, are separate and follow the contract with your employer or company.

Which charging cards work with the reimbursement platform?

Almost all common roaming charging cards are compatible, including Shell Recharge, Q8 electric, FleetPass, BMW Charging, MB.CHARGE Public and Plugsurfing. We check the exact card and provider during activation, because a card contract or roaming link can change.

When will my home charging sessions be paid out?

What do OCPP and CPO mean for home charging allowance?

OCPP is the open communication standard with which the charging station exchanges data with the management platform. The CPO, or Charge Point Operator, manages access, session data and settlement via that platform, among other things. We act as CPO for this solution without subscription fees or platform costs.

Do I have to create invoices or VAT documents myself for my home charging sessions?

No. Within the Laadnatie solution we arrange the invoicing and VAT processing of the charging transactions. You do not have to prepare an invoice for every session yourself. Your employer or company remains responsible for its own accounting and tax processing. To set up the platform we need correct bank, address and identification details.
