Easee Charge Max or Charge Pro: which one suits you?

Charge Max is often a suitable choice for home use, even with a company car. Charge Pro offers more space to develop a larger or shared charging location. Both have a certified MID meter and are V2G-ready. You choose mainly based on the number of charging points, your connection and the desired management.

A company car does not automatically mean that you need Charge Pro. We first look at where you charge, who uses the charging point and how you want to settle the costs. This way you get the functions you need and there is still room for your plans.

In our simulator you can choose Charge Max or Charge Pro yourself. The first model advice will help you get started. We will then check your choice with your photos, mains connection and wishes before we finalize the installation.

The main difference is the scale of your charging location.

Charge Max is often sufficient for one charging point at home. For a larger parking lot, multiple users or a growing number of charging points, we look at Charge Pro. The numbers below describe the capabilities of the system; they do not mean that all cars can charge at full power at the same time.

You choose the connection, finish and charging cable.

Both models have a built-in cellular connection via LTE-M. The range depends on the charging location. They are offered with a black cover; a white cover is available as an option.

You connect a suitable Type 2 charging cable. If you want to leave it hanging at the charging station, the cable can remain permanently locked, even when the car is not connected. We discuss the design and length so that the cable reaches comfortably to your car.

Your company car requires good measuring and clear agreements.

With the MID meter, both models record charging consumption with a certified energy meter. This is useful for settlement, but does not regulate the refund in itself. Your employer or company, charging card and management platform must support this method.

We discuss in advance who will have access and how you want to manage business and other charging sessions. Within the offered scope, our own CPO service has no subscription costs. We check the conditions and possible costs of an external charging card or service separately.

We tailor smart charging to your home.

Dividing the available power between multiple chargers is different from taking your entire home into account. For the latter, we also measure the consumption of, for example, your hob, heat pump and other appliances. A suitable Equalizer helps to adjust the charging current accordingly.

If you want to charge on available solar power, we check the measurement, the grid type and the settings. The minimum charging current and the charging behavior of your car remain decisive. A home battery and charging station do not automatically follow the same priorities: we also discuss your battery reserve and when your car should be ready.

A Pro does not automatically make your car faster.

Many electric cars charge a maximum of 11 kW AC at home. A charging station that supports up to 22 kW does not change that limit. The vehicle and the entire installation must be suitable for 22 kW.

We therefore look at your grid type, available power, cable route and protections. On a network of 3 × 230 V without neutral conductor, charging behavior may differ per vehicle. The car finder helps you compare; We will check the exact design and connection for your quote.

Both models have hardware prepared for V2G.

V2G-ready means that the charging station hardware is prepared to return energy from your car. This preparation is standard with Charge Max and Charge Pro.

For a usable feed-in function, your car, software, energy service, installation and the applicable rules must also cooperate. Support for bidirectional DC charging or a socket on the vehicle does not prove suitability for bidirectional AC charging vian Easee. We assess the specific combination before we propose such a function.

Short answer

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Charge Pro for my commercial vehicle?

Not automatically. Charge Max, like Charge Pro, has a certified MID meter and may be eligible for reimbursement of home charging costs. We also check your employer's agreements, the charging card and the chosen management platform. The number of charging points and the desired management determine which model we recommend.

Does Charge Pro charge faster than Charge Max?

Both support up to 22 kW AC on a suitable three-phase connection. Charge Pro does not automatically make your car faster. The lowest limit of your car, mains connection, electrical protection, charging cable and settings determines the actual speed. On 3 × 230 V without neutral conductor we check the options for your car separately.

Is automatic power control standard in the charging station?

Both chargers can distribute the available power between charging points. Suitable measurement and control is required to also take into account the total home consumption and available solar power. For this purpose, we install and configure an Easee Equalizer where appropriate. We check the meter port, the grid type and the support of your management platform.

Are Charge Max and Charge Pro both V2G-ready?

Yes. In both models, the hardware is prepared for bidirectional charging. A functioning feed-in function also requires a suitable vehicle with bidirectional AC charging, software, energy service and electrical installation. V2G-ready in itself does not provide emergency power for your home.
